THIS week - Time Trials and Mock Meet

Hello Cuda Parents:

TIME TRIALS AND MOCK MEETS - THIS WEEK

This week all CUDA swimmers will be timed on Wednesday 5/24 and Thursday 5/25. Please plan for your child to attend both days. This is needed for seed times for Meet Entries and events.

Volunteers: We are going to take this opportunity to time our swimmers and train YOU on your meet volunteer role at the same time.

NEW Parents: If you have never volunteered at a meet and have questions about the volunteer shift you are doing this year, be ready to practice your role (Timer, Scribe, Runner, Scorer, Judge) during your child's practice on Wednesday and/or Thursday of this week.

We are going to run time trials like a Swim Meet, calling ALL Timers, Scribes, Ribbon Writers, Runners, Scorers and Judges to practice with us as we time our kids.

What can you expect?:

Each swimmer will dive from the wall on the deep end of our pool and swim to the shallow end -wall to wall. While our pool is a little longer than the pools at meet locations, (our pool is 33 yards compared to the usual 25 yards) we will use times from Wednesday and Thursday as a gage how to enter our kids in to races.

Don't worry about your little ones, we will have coaches in the water to assist them. All volunteer parents will be working at the shallow end.

Thank you for all your help!

See you at the pool,

Terri Tyler

Team Representative

Q. We love Swim Team is it always this Awesome?

One of the beautiful things about the community Swim Team is the kids building friendships in their own age groups so when we attend the meets, our kids experience the  bonding of swimmers that is part of the magic of Cudas.

Q. What do AM practices look like and when do they begin?

Morning Practices Begin

Briargrove Pool, 2600 Briargrove

AM Practice Schedule (starting May 30)

8:00 – 8:45    7 and 8

8:45 – 9:30    9 and 10

9:30 – 10:00    6 and under

10:00 – 10:45    11 and up

Q. I wish my kids had practices back to back.

With almost 175 CUDA swimmers, we hear the moms, receive feedback every year. In June older kids will swim first many of our CUDAs make it to camps each year, clearly with 175 kids the schedule will not be perfect for each family. Families with multiple children go and come back, other families opt to bring snacks and books and play and hang out at the pool until the next child's practice you're welcome to do whatever works for your family.

Q. Can’t I just swim my child at a time convenient for my schedule?

Practices are built for swimmer safety and bulletproofing the kids in the water thus the breakdown by age group. Our focus is our CUDA when building the practices and staffing the coaches. Our goal is to coach our CUDAs to be the best swimmers they can be by the end of our short season. As you can Imagine the coaches have to teach each age group differently, a four-year-old requires much more management than a seven-year-old and likewise a seven-year-old requires more management that a 12-year-old again the reason for the age groups and again this is for the safety and benefit of our children.

Q. I didn’t even know my child lost that towel I saw in lost and found in lost and found?

Exactly! Some beautiful towels are piling up in lost and found, check to see if you if any belong to your family.

Q. How can I stay in the CUDA loop?
